Art in all these forms…
For over fifteen years Nathalie du Merle has been fleshing out her universe using multiple artistic methods: graphite pencil drawing, watercolour and – after a prolonged carefully study of movement – sculpture. Today she expresses herself primarily through acrylic on canvas, paired with different materials such as paper, wood or pastel, in ever larger and ever bolder formats.
A haven of peace…
Nathalie strives to follow the mantras of peace and inner happiness, which she shares with us in her own way: in an explosion of colours and of lithe, light shapes. Colour for her has always been a mode of self-expression: a shade of blue-green for calmness, a dark blue for dreaming, a raspberry pink that always makes her smile… Each feeling is laid out before us, nestled in each wave.
Wanderlust…
The artist feels a deep-rooted longing for travel and escape, and lets us partake in her excursions through washes of emerald seas, dotted with small islands of collages. They may look like imaginary worlds, but this is how Nathalie perceives and discovers the world around her. She offers us a more pleasant scene, a glimpse of her own El Dorado.
